election security is national security the common good

Election security IS national security – our democracy is at risk so long as we are vulnerable to foreign interference in elections. The Mueller Report established beyond a reasonable doubt that Russia attempted to disrupt our democracy in the 2016 presidential election, and there is not sufficient security to protect our next elections. Foreign powers found loopholes in our voting systems that must be closed. We must act to ensure our free and fair elections, central to the heart of our democracy, are secure.

There are several initiatives in Congress that would tackle foreign interference in elections:

  • The bipartisan Honest Ads Act would prevent foreign actors from influencing our elections by ensuring that political ads sold online are covered by the same rules as other commercial ads. Read more here.

  • The bipartisan Secure Elections Act would establish protocols for cyber threat information sharing between state election officials and the Department of Homeland Security. Read more here.

  • The Protecting the Right to Independent and Democratic Elections (PRIDE) Act would establish an election security grant program to combat cyber attacks. Read more here.

We must act now to protect the sanctity of our elections! Call your Representative and Senator today and urge them to support legislation that will prevent foreign interference in our political process. Find your representative’s contact information here: https://www.contactingcongress.org/
