About Our Speaker

Andrew Cuomo served as the 56th Governor of New York, leading the state for over a decade with a focus on progressive policy, infrastructure modernization, and fiscal responsibility.

Born into a public service legacy as the son of Governor Mario Cuomo, he began his career fighting homelessness, founding Housing Enterprise for the Less Privileged (HELP), and later serving as HUD Secretary under President Clinton. As New York’s Attorney General, he championed consumer protections and government reform before becoming governor in 2011.

Cuomo’s tenure saw landmark achievements, including marriage equality, the codification of Roe v. Wade, a $15 minimum wage, free college tuition for middle-class New Yorkers, and the nation’s strongest gun laws. He spearheaded major infrastructure projects like the rebuilding of LaGuardia and JFK airports and oversaw record investments in education and healthcare.

During the COVID-19 crisis, Cuomo became a national figure for his leadership, guiding New York through the pandemic’s darkest days.
