Jamie Margolin
About
Jamie is a 17-year-old Colombian-American writer, community organizer, activist & public speaker. Frustrated by the inaction of elected officials and the fact that youth voices were almost always ignored in the conversation around climate change Jamie started gathering several of her friends in the summer of 2017 to speak out on climate change.
Activism
Founder and co-executive director of an international youth climate justice movement called “Zero Hour”
Led the very first “Youth Climate March” in Washington DC and 25 cities all around the world during the summer of 2018.
Former Plaintiff on Our Children’s Trusts’ Youth v. Gov Washington state lawsuit suing the state of Washington for denying her generation’s constitutional rights to a livable environment by continuing to make climate change worse.
Current Projects
This summer (2019), her organization is organizing the “This Is Zero Hour: The Youth Climate Summit” in Miami, from July 12 – 14.
Youth To Power - her debut book, is hitting bookstores worldwide in 2020. About being a young activist and her drive to protect mother earth.
Margolin was a Changemaker Scholarship Recipient at The Common Good Forum 2019.
