With over 30 books and numerous articles published in outlets like The New York Times and The Atlantic, his writings have been translated into multiple languages and are celebrated for their blend of scholarship and storytelling.
A frequent guest on national media and a member of prestigious societies like the Society of American Historians, Brands holds the Jack S. Blanton Sr. Chair in History at the University of Texas at Austin. His academic journey began at Stanford University, followed by a doctorate in history from UT Austin. Before joining the faculty at UT, he taught at Texas A&M University and Vanderbilt University
